BREAKING BONDAGES - TAGGED - PART 2

                     BECOMING A TARGET FOR TEMPTATION

This is Part 2 of a 3 part series dealing with temptations, bondages, and demonic influence. The other two are:
- BREAKING BONDAGES "SEDCUTION"
- BREAKING BONDAGES "ENSLAVED"

“Blessed is the man that endures temptation; for when he is tried, he shall receive the crown of life which the Lord has promised to them that love Him. Let not man say when he is tempted, ‘I am tempted of the God.’ For God cannot be tempted with evil, neither tempts He any man: but every man is tempted when he is drawn away of his own lust, and enticed. Then when lust has conceived, it brings forth sin; and sin, when it is finished, brings forth death.” James 1:12-15

TOYING WITH, CONSIDERING, TAKING INTEREST IN, BEING INTRIGUED WITH … SIN
One may wonder how the doors are opened to temptation and how do we close them?
Temptations are going to come:
A- because we have an adversary who comes to steal, and to kill, and to destroy us, and he is called the tempter.
B - we are susceptible to sin because of  the weakness or our flesh.
Temptation comes through accidental, deliberate, and forced exposure. What is important is how we respond to temptation.

WHAT MAKES TEMPTATION SO CHALLENGING?
Why temptation is so difficult, is because it is appealing to our flesh. This includes all types of sin; lusts, idolatry, witchcraft, greed, violence, hate, revenge, sexual immorality...

THE OPEN DOOR - YOU HAVE BEEN EXPOSED, YOU ARE CURIOUS, INTRIGUED, STIMULATED
1 - NEVER TRUST YOURSELF/YOUR HEART! "He that trusts his own heart is a fool: but whoso walks wisely, he shall be delivered." Proverbs 28:26 "The heart is deceitful above all things, and is desperately wicked: who can know it?" Jeremiah 17:9 In your heart you may feel confident that you are doing nothing wrong and are justified. You may think that you have everything under control and have no bad intentions... You had better watch out!

2 - WHAT DOES GOD'S WORD HAVE TO SAY ABOUT IT? Regardless of how it makes you feel, or what the friends or the world says about it, God is the Final Judge, and if He says it is wrong, sin, or evil, "Let God be True, but every man a Liar." Romans 3:4 FLEE FROM IT! Make your choice to stand with God in Christ Jesus and take Him at His WORD!

3 - DO NOT TOY WITH IT, BE INTRIGUED BY IT, CONSIDER IT, OR EVEN THINK ABOUT IT - if you do, you will become quickly ensnared, and the sin will have its grip on you. The sin will begin to dominate your thoughts, and your resistance to it in both your reasoning and self control will progressively deteriorate, and finally, it will start to look not so bad. Your intrigue and willingness to entertain it will soon prevail. You are now in danger AND THE DEVIL HAS YOU TAGGED. What is more, you will have given the devil a foothold in your life and he will begin to orchestrate the next deadly move. Unless you repent, you will willingly follow him to your own demise while feeling relief from your half-hearted resistance.

4 - IF YOU HAVE BEEN TAGGED, YOU ARE A TARGET!!! - Have you ever wondered why a person that you know who is struggling with a temptation/sin seems to run into it, or the availability of it, wherever they go? It is as if they have been tagged with some kind of marker, and the associated persons and provisions of that iniquity seem to hone in on him or her. And they will until that individual fully repents or is taken out by their sin. "Jesus said,'...for the prince of this world is coming, and has nothing in Me.'" John 14:30 The devil has a hold on us when we are in agreement with him in any area. And as long as we do we are a target, and the opportunities to sin will keep springing up wherever we go because the sin in us is activated and we are tagged.

 WHAT DO WE DO?
- 1 RUN!
Flee as from the wrath to come. Turn to Jesus with all your heart, soul, mind, and body "Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you. Draw near to God and He will draw near to you. Cleanse your hands, you sinners, and purify your hearts you double minded..." James 4:7-10
 - 2 CLOSE THE DOOR Break your agreement with the devil/your sin. As long as you are in agreement with it at any level, it will come back, and that is YOUR FAULT! YOU MUST HATE YOUR SIN!
- 3  DESTROY THE IDOL This does not mean only sexual sin, but any desire or lust in your heart, like bitterness, hate, revenge, greed... As long as it is big in your mind, it will be big in your heart. And if it is big in your heart, it will dominate your thoughts, desires, and actions. Jesus alone is to be Lord of your heart. The things of this world are nothing by comparison to Jesus.
BEWARE:
Your flesh loves the sin! Because your flesh loves your sin, you may believe that you cannot hate it. When you stop feeding your flesh you will see that in your heart (where Christ dwells) you abhor the sin. So stop feeding your flesh! "...abstain from fleshly lusts, which war against the soul..." 1 Peter 2:11 "And, let everyone that names the of Christ depart from iniquity." 2 Timothy 2:19 "You that love the Lord, hate evil." Psalm 97:10  "But put on the Lord Jesus Christ, and make no provision for the flesh to fulfill the lusts thereof." Romans 13:14

CONCLUSION -
If you find that you are continually struggling with a temptation (or not resisting), and opportunities to sin keep popping up everywhere, there are two things you can be sure of; you have opened the door to the devil and he has tagged you, and you have been entertaining sin in your heart. So where do you want to go with this? It is up to you. The next topic is "ENSLAVED".
