                               THE JOURNEY AND THE FRIEND

                                        (For the local Newspaper)

  Life is an amazing journey, and perhaps one of the greatest highlights are the ones who make the journey with us. There are those who are with you from the beginning, like parents and siblings, perhaps followed by your spouse and children. Hopefully you have a company of friends and acquaintances who help you along the way, many of whom come and go. Now not all aspects of any journey are pleasant. We can expect hardships and troubles, but arriving at the desired destiny makes it all worthwhile. Transcending all is the journey to Heaven following a trail blazed by the Son of God Himself, the Lord Jesus Christ Who has left us with a Companion Who will be with us FOREVER, His very own Holy Spirit.

  Here are some verses from the Bible that those of us who have traveled with Him for some time can attest to: “I will never leave you, nor forsake you.” I have loved you with an everlasting love.” “Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? Shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or sword?...Nay, in all these things we are more than conquerors through Him that loved us. For I am persuaded that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come, nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.”

  So if you have been trying to make this journey, but without Him, it is time to step out of the boat and onto the water of faith, take up your cross, and follow Jesus.
