18- Biblical Anger Management-C Factors 5- Fears
5-FEARS-
“Fear not, for I Am with you: be not dismayed; for I Am your
God: I will strengthen you; I will help you; yes, I will uphold you with the
right hand of My righteousness.” Isaiah 41:10
“There is no fear in love; but perfect love casts out fear:
because fear has torment. He that fears is not made perfect in love.” 1 John
4:18
Another common root
behind anger are the fears that anxieties and insecurities produce.
Fears of being vulnerable, of being exposed, or being
humiliated, of being hurt when threatened whether actual or assumed, can spark
reactions of defensive anger. Therefore, fears must be identified and
eliminated by God’s truth and grace.
“He (Jesus) replied, ‘you of little faith, why are you so afraid?’”
Matthew 8:26a
Again, anger is used as a defense, but God wants us to fully
rely on Him for all our protection. Psalm 18:1-3. Fears
are another open door to irrational and unreasonable behaviors, and satanic
influence; however, in Jesus Christ,
“…God has not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of
love, and of a sound mind.” 2 Timothy 1:7
“These things I have spoken unto you , that in Me(Jesus) you
might have peace. In the world you will have tribulation: but be of good cheer;
I have overcome the world.” John 16:33
Other Scripture verses; Psalm 18, 27, 91, 121….
These are not merely ideas or concepts, but these promises that
are living realities to those who know Him and have put their trust in Him.
Whether facing fears, troubles, dangers, … He is the Creator of
all and the Lord of all. Is there anything too difficult for Him?
REMEMBER- Jesus Christ Is the Savior, the Healer, the Deliverer, the
Helper….
Is Jesus so in your life? If not, it is time.
STOP- CONSIDER- DECIDE- DO SO NOW
-CONFRONTING YOUR FEARS-
ACTION STEP 1- Run to God
immediately and confess your fears, ask Him to
help you, guide you, teach you, and even forgive you.
if your fears are a statement of lack
of faith and are
leading you to anger, hate, physical and verbal aggression.
NOTE- There are
healthy fears like; the fear of the Lord which helps us avoid evil behavior and
attitudes, the fear of breaking the law, the fear of defying the laws of
nature…; however, any fear that drives us to lose control, to do wrong, to hate
people, to not trust God,… is sinful, unhealthy, dangerous, and needs to be
confronted and repented of.
2- IDENTIFY AND EXAMINE. Are your fears valid, why,
and to
what extent? What does God’s Word say about
your
particular fears? Exposure can help reduce fear too.
ie. Is
your fear a mask for pride or prejudice?
3-IDENTIFY THE OPEN DOOR. How did these fears lodge in you? Close
the door by faith on the authority of God’s Word. This may require you to
receive a healing from the Lord for bad experience, stop believing something,
face something, take some kind of action and even get godly help.
“The Lord Is my Light and my Salvation; whom shall I fear? The
Lord Is the Strength of my life, of whom shall I be afraid?” Psalm 27:1
NOTE- Fears are
products of beliefs, whether taught or assumed, and experiences.
Therefore the truth/God’s Word can set your free from these
fears, and the comforting power of His Holy Spirit. Sounds too simple? But it
is true!
NOTE- Truth is the
antidote for falsehood, and falsehoods feed certain fears.
“Let God be True, and every man a liar…’ Romans 3:4
NOTE- Prejudices,
paranoia, shame, guilt, insecurities, superstition… will breed and feed
invalid, unhealthy, unnecessary fears.
-GET
THE TRUTH!!! And repent of believing the lies! Learn God’s Word!
-REPENT OF UNGODLY ACTIVITIES. Many fears
come
out of and through these, ie, alcohol, drugs, occult
practices, morbid interests...
-GET YOUR THOUGHTS AND
FEELINGS UNDER CONTROL AND SUBJECT TO GOD’S WORD – Who and what do you
believe?!
“Finally, brothers, whatsoever things
are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever
things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good
report; if there be any virtue, if there be any praise, think on these things.” Philippians 4:8.
“The Lord is my Shepherd,
I shall not want (lack)…I will fear no evil… surely goodness and mercy shall
follow me all the days of my life…” Psalm 23, Isa. 51:12-13
4-
Fears from past hurts are genuine and valid! Never minimize or disregard fears that were derived from past
hurts; however, do not harbor them, rather take them to the Lord Jesus for
healing and deliverance. He can and He does!!! Again, remember
that forgiveness is an absolute necessity to receive the healing you need.
-DETERMINE TO WALK THE
LIFE OF FAITH AND LOVE WHICH ARE IN CHRIST JESUS
-SURRENDER YOUR CARE AND
PROTECTION TO THE LORD JESUS CHRIST
These are lifestyle changes and habit patterns and mind-sets
that need to be implemented immediately, but take time to grow into. Expect
work and struggle, but also expect miracles, deliverances and healings and
peace.
